Business consulting for firms that want straight answers
Most consultancies hand you a slide deck and leave. We sit in the room until the numbers move. Based in Scotland, working across the UK, we help owner-managed businesses and mid-market companies sort out the problems they already know about but haven't had time to fix.
Four weeks from diagnosis to first measurable change
We don't believe in six-month discovery phases. Here is what a typical engagement looks like from the first phone call to the point where you can see a difference on your P&L.
1
The honest audit
We spend three days inside your operation: shadowing teams, reading management accounts, interviewing key people. No questionnaires. No surveys. Direct observation.
2
Priorities, not wish lists
You get a short document listing no more than five issues ranked by financial impact. Each one includes what fixing it will cost, how long it will take, and what the likely return is.
3
Hands-on execution
We work alongside your managers to implement changes. That might mean restructuring a sales pipeline, renegotiating supplier terms, or redesigning a reporting cadence. We do the work with you, not for you.
4
Measure and hand over
After 90 days we compare the numbers. If the agreed targets haven't been hit, we keep going at no extra fee until they are. Then we leave, and you keep the playbook.
What we do
Specific problems, specific fixes
We don't offer vague "transformation programmes." Below are the areas where we have the most track record. If your problem isn't listed, call us anyway.
Cash flow and working capital
We trace every pound from invoice to bank account and find the leaks. Common wins include tightening debtor days by 15–30%, renegotiating payment terms with key suppliers, and eliminating stock that ties up cash without generating margin.
Leadership and team structure
Growing companies often outgrow their original org chart without realising it. We assess whether the right people are in the right seats, design reporting lines that match your current size, and coach founders through the transition from doing to managing.
Revenue growth strategy
Not every revenue problem is a sales problem. Sometimes pricing is wrong, the product mix is diluting margin, or the company is chasing segments that cost more to serve than they return. We model the economics before recommending action.
Operational efficiency
We map processes from order to delivery and find the bottlenecks that add cost without adding value. In manufacturing clients, we have reduced lead times by up to 40%. In service firms, the gains usually show up as fewer wasted hours per week per team member.
Exit and succession planning
Thinking about selling in the next two to five years? We help owners increase enterprise value before going to market: cleaning up the financials, reducing key-person dependency, and building the kind of documentation a buyer's due diligence team expects.

Common questions
Things people ask before they hire us
Our diagnostic phase is a fixed fee of £4,800 plus VAT. Implementation projects are scoped and priced individually, but most fall between £15,000 and £60,000 depending on complexity and duration. We quote a ceiling before work begins, and we don't bill by the hour.
No. Our office is in Newton Cronin, but we take on clients throughout the UK. About a third of our current portfolio is based in England. Remote working covers a lot of ground, and we travel to client sites for the audit and key implementation milestones.
Typically between £1.5m and £50m in turnover, with 10 to 250 employees. Below that threshold, the consulting fee often exceeds the likely return. Above it, the big four firms are better resourced for the compliance and governance work that larger organisations need.
We keep working at no additional charge until the agreed metrics are achieved or until we mutually agree the external conditions have changed enough to warrant a revised target. That clause is written into every contract.
We limit ourselves to eight active engagements at a time so we can give proper attention to each one. Current lead time is roughly two to four weeks. If your situation is urgent, call us directly and we will see what we can rearrange.

Book a candid conversation
We will not pitch you on the first call. The initial conversation is 30 minutes, free, and designed to figure out whether we can actually help. If we can't, we will say so.
